What is the Work Pass Intended for Professionals?

A Work Permit is meant for foreign workers who are unskilled or semi-skilled and belong to the construction, maritime, manufacturing, process, or service industries. They must come from one of MOM’s (Ministry of Manpower) approved source countries, which vary according to the industry. It allows them to work in Singapore for up to two years, depending on the following.

  • The period of employment

  • Security bond

  • Validity of the worker’s passport

During this time, the employee is only allowed to work for the specified company and in the specified profession.

An S Pass is a work pass issued to mid-level skilled foreign employees (associate professionals and technicians) who meet the eligibility requirements. It is valid for up to two years, and their remuneration must be proportional to their work experience. The candidate should apply for the S Pass through their employer or a designated employment agent. Therefore, the employee can only work for the specified employer in the specified occupation during the validity period. If the S Pass holder changes jobs, the new employer must apply for a new S Pass for the foreign worker.

An Employment Pass is a work visa type for foreign professionals, managers, and executives who have been offered employment in Singapore. These foreign workers must showcase their English language proficiency and have relevant professional experience.
